I am extremely sad to inform you on the untimely passing of Head Coach Richard Lavino on Friday, March 18th 2011. Coach Lavino, was a great educator in the Yorktown School system for many years as well as a great coach. But more importantly, he was a great person in general. I have been blessed to have known him for over ten years but in the past four years I really got to know him well by assisting him with coaching the high school team. He will be deeply missed. This has been a difficult time for myself and all the players as well as eveyone who knew him. As I take on the responsibility of coaching our team, I know it wlll be impossible to fill his shoes but I am confident that I can continue his legacy in our children for the future. I am so proud of our team and especially the captains for being role models for the younger kids in understanding that even though we have suffered a great loss, we will persevere and hold Coach Lavino dear to our hearts.
I would like to wish our three returning senior captains the best of luck in the upcoming season and remember Coach Lavino will always be with us.
Roman Luczycki, Anthony D'Alessandro, and Joey Marini will lead our team into battle in the 2011 season.
